Description

Exercise from Ctrl+Paint Basic Rendering 2: Imaginary Light and Shadow. Not sure if I got the cast shadows correct, particularly on the middle object.

The shape of a middle sphere shadow looks fine, but it is flattening the volume of a cone below. There are white objects around, the ground is light color, and it seems like these objects located somewhwre in a room, anyway, the ambient and reflected light will draw a volume even inside shadow zones. Also little bit confusion about the direction of light: the cylinder cast shadow points that the light source is located little behind the objects, and spheres highlights point that light source "sits" between the veiwer and objects (i mean between and higher). Left sphere cast shadow looks little bit tilted to the right and has different corners, the left one seems too sharp for a sphere. And one more nuance: the deepest shadow on both spheres is almost the same value from left to right, if you make the closest "edge" of these shadows (closest to a veiwer i mean) little darker, it will make more volume, kind of aerial perspective, when what's closer to us has more contrast.
Sorry for too much critique, I hope it will help. Keep going!
ps. sorry for my English
